Tourney Time: No. 7 Seed NC State Plays Thursday Night
March 10, 2014
GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State will be the No. 7 seed and play Thursday night in this week's ACC Men's Basketball Championship at Greensboro Coliseum. The Wolfpack will play the winner of Wednesday's Miami-Virginia Tech contest at 7 p.m.
Tickets for Wednesday's three contests are $35 and include a performance by country music star Scotty McCreery. The concert will follow the Miami-Virginia Tech game and is set for approximately 6 p.m.
Single-session tickets for Thursday are on sale for $32. There are two sessions that day, with NC State playing in the evening session.
NC State (19-12, 9-9) enters the tournament having won games at Pittsburgh and vs. Boston College. T.J. Warren scored 41 points in the win at Pitt and followed up with 42 against BC.
Picked 10th in the conference's preseason poll, the young NC State team has exceeded expectations under third-year coach Mark Gottfried. NC State is one of just three teams to finish at least three spots better than where it was picked. The other two schools are Clemson (picked 14th, finished 6th) and regular season champion Virginia (picked 4th, finished 1st).
The Wolfpack defeated both Miami and Virginia Tech on the road this season. NC State split two regular season meetings with Miami and won at Virginia Tech on Feb. 22. If the Pack can get past the Hurricanes-Hokies winner, it would take on No. 2 seed Syracuse Friday night at 7 p.m.
The tournament begins Wednesday, March 12 when No. 12 seed Wake Forest plays No. 13 seed Notre Dame at 1 p.m.
