    Pack Opens Play In The 60th ACC Tournament Thursday

    NC State opens play in the 60th ACC Tournament Thursday at the Greensboro Coliseum against Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. 
    State head coach Mark Gottfried took time to discuss the challenges of trying to play four games in four days and facing a Virginia Tech team that boasts the nation's top scorer, Erick Green.

    • The Pack's 22 wins are the most entering the ACC Tournament since 1988 (23).  The Pack's 46 combined wins over the last two years are the most in back-to-back seasons since 1987-88 and 1988-89 (46).

    • NC State checks in at No. 28 in the RPI, and No. 36 in strength of schedule. NC State is 20th in the BPI, and has the No. 15 schedule.

    • NC State is 1-0 all-time against Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament. In the 2007 semifinals, the 10th-seeded Pack downed third-seeded VT in Tampa, 72-64.

    • The Pack's five upperclassmen have combined to play 20 career games in the Greensboro Coliseum, going 4-2 in those six games.

    • Richard Howell, Scott Wood and Jordan Vandenberg will be playing their third ACC Tournament in Greensboro.

    • NC State is the only team nationally to have five players average over 12.0 points per game. The Pack's starting five averages between 14.9-12.1 ppg.
