NC State to Travel to Purdue in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State will travel to Purdue on Dec. 2 as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods, the league announced on Thursday.
The ACC-Big Ten Challenge, now in its 16th season, is spread over the first three days of December. There are now 14 contests in the challenge due to conference expansion. NC State’s contest at Purdue is one of six games set for the Dec. 2 date. TV network assignments and game times for the event will be announced at a later date.
The Pack defeated Northwestern 69-48 at PNC Arena in last year’s challenge. NC State finished last season with a 22-14 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s second round. The Wolfpack has made the NCAA Tournament in each of its three seasons under head coach Mark Gottfried.
Purdue (15-17) was 12-5 last season at Mackey Arena, including a win over Boston College in last year’s ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Purdue returns 7-0 center A.J. Hammons (10.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg).
One notable tie between the two schools is Purdue’s head coach, Matt Painter, was a basketball teammate and roommate with NC State Senior Associate AD Sherard Clinkscales.
