Raleigh, N.C. -
NC State men’s basketball coach Mark Gottfried has announced the addition of guard Trevor Lacey, a transfer from Alabama. Lacey will sit out the 2013-14 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining to play for the Wolfpack.
“We are extremely excited to have a player with Trevor’s abilities join our program,” said Gottfried. “He is a winner, and really understands the game. I believe he is a player that will blossom in our system, and we look forward to having him be a part of our team.”
Lacey was a two-year starter at guard at Alabama and was the only player on the Crimson Tide squad to start all 36 contests in 2012-13. As a sophomore, the Huntsville, Ala., native averaged 11.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest and led the team in assists per game (3.2), three-pointers made (62) and three-pointers attempted (166).
During his two seasons at Alabama, Lacey played in 69 contests while making 52 starts, averaging 9.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game.
A five star recruit out of high school, Lacey was initially recruited by teams including Kentucky, Kansas, and UConn before deciding to play for the team in his home state.
