July 11, 2014
LAS VEGAS - Bob Alejo, an assistant athletic director at NC State who handles the strength and conditioning program for Wolfpack men's basketball, is a featured speaker this week at the national convention for strength coaches in Las Vegas.
"Bob is one of the most respected and knowledgeable strength coaches in the country," head coach Mark Gottfried said. "He has trained Olympians and some of the world's greatest athletes. Bob is a tremendous asset to our basketball program and helps our players reach their potential."
Alejo, who came to NC State in 2011, will be presenting at the NSCA National Conference and Exhibition at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Before coordinating the training of Gottfried's players, Alejo spent two stints with the Oakland A's and nine years at UCLA. He coached more than 100 All-Americans at UCLA and 25 teams that won national championships.
He has also trained the world's top-ranked men's beach volleyball team in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
