Wolfpack Hosts Breakfast And Scrimmage For Fans
Oct. 26, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - After hosting and serving a breakfast for fans and Wolfpack Club members, the NC State men's basketball team took to the court for an intrasquad scrimmage at PNC Arena on Saturday morning.
The Wolfpack played a pair of 18-minute scrimmages against each other in front of a group of fans eager to see Mark Gottfried's young squad this upcoming season. The scrimmage portion of the morning was open exclusively to fans who attended that morning's buffet breakfast, which was hosted by the Wolfpack Club.
In the first 18-minute contest, the Pack players dressed in red edged their teammates in white 38-34. Three early 3-pointers by Staats Battle put the red team in control and it held off T.J. Warren and the Wolfpack in white. Battle and Tyler Lewis finished with 10 points each in the game, which gave the young team an excellent opportunity to simulate late-game situations. Warren scored 18 points on 8-for-16 shooting for the losing team. Freshman post player Kyle Washington led all players with eight rebounds.
The teams switched for the day's second scrimmage, with former Pack player Will Roach wearing white and playing with Wallace, Battle, Chase Cannon and Jevoni Robinson. The red team pulled away for a 37-25 win, with Warren scoring 11 points. Jordan Vandenberg added nine points and seven rebounds. Wallace hit four 3-pointers for a game-high 12 points for the NC State white team.
NC State will play its first exhibition contest Wednesday, Oct. 30 against UNC Pembroke at Reynolds Coliseum. That game will begin at 7 p.m. and can be seen on GoPack.com All-Access.
