When NC State entertains UNC Greensboro on New Year’s Eve, it will be looking keep a couple of streaks alive. With a victory, NC State can improve to 8-0 all time against the Spartans. A Wolfpack triumph would also extend its winning streak to seven games, the longest under coach Mark Gottfried. A win would also push NC State’s consecutive home victories to nine dating back to last season's home finale against Miami (W, 77-73).

This is the first meeting between the Wolfpack and Spartans since 2009, when NC State posted an 89-67 victory over UNCG in a game also contested on New Year’s Eve at the Greensboro Coliseum.

For the 14th time in program history, NC State will play on Dec. 31 with an 11-2 ledger in those games. Last year, the Pack won its inaugural New Year’s Eve contest under Mark Gottfried, defeating Western Carolina, 82-55.

The Wolfpack, which leads the nation in field goal percentage at .535, can make six consecutive games in which it shoots .500 or better in a game. This year, NC State is 9-1 when it shoots .500 or better from the field.

Monday’s game concludes a six-game homestand for NC State before it opens conference play Saturday, Jan. 5 at Boston College.

The game will be broadcast on ESPNU with Tom Hart handling the play-by-play duties and Wolfpack great Dereck Whittenburg providing the color commentary. Patrick Kinas will call the action on the NC State radio network with Mark Thomas providing an analysis of the game. Satellite radio subscribers can also listen to the game on Sirius channel 94 and XM channel 191.
