PERSONAL DATA: Born June 2, 1961; Married to the former Manette Lawer; Has three children, Curtis John, Jr. (14), Carly Ann (12) and Natalie (9); His father, Frank, was one of the winnigest collegiate head coaches of all-time at West Virginia University (WVU) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) (199 wins total) before retiring this past year. His brother, Frank, Jr., is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at North Carolina.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: Named one of the nation's top-25 recruiters by Rivals.com in 2005; As a coach - Coached quarterback Philip Rivers, who was honored as the 2003 ACC Player of the Year. Rivers led the nation in passing efficiency and completion percentage in 2003, breaking nearly every passing and total offense record in school and conference history and setting single season ACC records for touchdown passes (34) and yards passing (4,491); Coached 2002 All-ACC first-team TE Sean Berton and second-team All-ACC tight ends T.J. Williams in 2005 and Willie Wright in 2001. During his six seasons with the Wolfpack offense, NC State has posted the top-four single-season pass completion totals in school history; As a player - Played on two consecutive bowl teams at West Virginia, the 1981 Peach Bowl squad and the 1982 Gator Bowl squad; Honored with the Lewis D. Meisel Award for Academics and the A.C. Whitey Gwynn Award for character.
