Former Wolfpack linebacker Dantonio Burnette is now in his sixth year as an assistant strength and conditioning working with NC State's football team. He spent three seasons as a graduate assistant with the Wolfpack strength and conditioning program, and two years as a full-time assistant before spending the 2012 season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Pittsburgh.

Burnette returned to NC State in January of 2013 to join Jason Veltkamp's staff.

Known as "Thunder Dan" during his playing career, Burnette was a four-time letterwinner at linebacker from 1999-2002, and was named first-team All-ACC as a senior in 2002. He was also the Wolfpack's co-MVP and a team captain that season. His 24 tackles against Clemson in 2001 is tied as the second most in a game in school history and he ranks second in career tackles with 476. His 41 career tackles-for-loss also rank fourth in school history.

Burnette was a standout in the weight room as well, earning the team's most valuable lifter award in 2001.

Originally from Warner Robbins, Ga., Burnette graduated in 2002 with a degree in sports management and earned his master's in higher education and sports management in 2007.
