CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - The NC State football team could not overcome a powerful Boston College rushing attack, as the Pack fell to the Eagles 38-21 Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill.

The Pack scored early in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to six with nine minutes left, but BC answered with a TD on its next possession and used its running game to run out the clock for the win.

Pete Thomas got the start at QB, completing 22-of-33 passes for 207 yards. Thomas was one of three Pack players to throw a TD (Rashard Smith and Garrett Leatham). Freshman WR Jumichael Ramos had the top game of his career, hauling in five passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Boston College's Andre Williams rushed for a school record 339 yards on 42 carries, as the running game dominated the Eagles' offense with 420 yards of the team's total of 473 yards.

The Eagles held a 10-0 lead after the first quarter, with a 17-yard TD run by Andre Williams being the BC touchdown.

The Pack got on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter, taking the ball 80 yards in five plays. A 61-yard screen pass from Thomas to Matt Dayes put the ball at the BC 9-yard line, and on the next play, Rashard Smith caught his first TD of the season to cut the BC lead to 10-7 with 7:13 left in the first half.

The Eagles responded on the next drive, as BC rushed for all 74 yards in five plays capped by a 19-yard Myles Willis TD run.

At the half, BC held a 17-7 lead. In the first half, 232 of BC's 253 yards came on the ground, with Williams rushing for 154 on 19 carries in the opening half.

A 39-yard BC field goal was the only score of the third quarter, and put the Eagles up 20-7.

The Pack got within a score in the fourth quarter. Smith threw his first career pass, and found fellow senior WR Quintin Payton deep for a 49-yard strike to cut the lead to 20-14 with 9:05 left. NC State marched 87 yards in six plays which spanned only 1:23.

Once again, BC responded to a Pack TD with a score of its own on the very next possession. Williams ran for a 65-yard gain, was stripped at the 2-yard line, but the Eagles recovered in the end zone, and after a two-point conversion, it was BC up 28-14.

After a BC field goal, Leatham found Ramos for a 52-yard TD score for the Pack's third touchdown pass of the game.

Williams would score his second TD of the game to make the final 38-21.

The Pack will return to Carter-Finley Stadium for the final two games of the season. Next Saturday (Nov. 23), the Pack will host East Carolina followed by Maryland on November 30.
