    Alumni Game Rosters

RALEIGH, N.C. - Before the 2014 Wolfpack squad suits up for the Kay Yow Spring Football Game on Saturday, the competition on the field promises to be fierce.  More than 70 former State players are dusting off their cleats and practicing their touchdown celebrations as they get ready to compete in the Wolfpack Alumni Flag Football Game, which will begin at 10:45 a.m. at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday.

The White team, which will be coached by Wolfpack legends Mario Williams and Russell Wilson, boasts two of the top nine career rushers in NC State history in Tremayne Stephens (1994-97) and T.A. McLendon (2002-04).  Not to be outdone, the Red squad, coached by Nate Irving and J.R. Sweezy, will boast two of the top 11 in terms of rushing yards in Ray Robinson (1998-01) and Toney Baker (2005-09).

Two of the top quarterbacks in school history will be distributing the ball for the two squads, as Erik Kramer (1985-86) will compete for White and Jamie Barnette (1996-99) will lead the Red.  Kramer ranks seventh in school history in career passing yards while Barnette ranks second.  They have several talented receivers whose names are in the record books to throw to.  Bryan Peterson (1999-02) and Tramain Hall (2003-04) will line up for the Red team and Koren Robinson (1999-00) and Jimmy Grissett (1993-96) will be on White.

The Red team would look to be the favorite defensively, as the top two tacklers in school history, Levar Fisher (1998-01) and Dantonio “Thunder Dan” Burnette (1999-02), will be joined by Lloyd Harrison (1996-99) who holds the single season PBU record, and hard hitting defensive backs Andre Maddox (2001-04) and Brian “B-Dub” Williams (1998-01).  But linebackers Pat Thomas (2001-04) and Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay (2001-04) will play for the pride of the White team.

“It’s been a lot of fun hearing the guys talking junk back and forth as the game gets closer,” said Burnette, who as assistant head strength & conditioning coach for football has helped organize the alumni game.  “I think this is going to be a great annual event that our former players and fans will enjoy.”

Stadium gates will open at 10:30 a.m. and a minimum $1 donation to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is suggested.  The Kay Yow Spring Game will kick off at 1 p.m.
