Kay Yow Spring Football Game Set for Saturday

NC State's football team will play the fourth annual Kay Yow Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m. The contest, presented by PNC, will be broadcast on ESPN3 and will be fans' first look at the 2012 Wolfpack squad that returns 16 starters from last season.
The game will be broadcast on 99.9 The Fan. Coverage with Tony Haynes and Mark Thomas will start at 3 p.m.
Carter-Finley Stadium parking gates will open at 10:30 a.m. and stadium gates 2-4 (west) and 6, 8-9 (east) will open at 2:30 p.m., with seating available on the east side of the stadium. Handicapped parking is available on both the east and west sides of the stadium and accessible entrances will be gates 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9.
Fans are encouraged to donate a minimum of $1 per person upon entrance, with proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Kay Yow Scholarship Endowment. Over the past three years, over $100,000 has been raised at the event.
Prior to the game on the south concourse, the Department of Athletics will hold a surplus sale of State athletic apparel. A limited number of game-worn, black football jerseys, which were worn by the Pack in a victory over Central Michigan last season, will be available for $200. Some select jerseys will be auctioned off, with bids being accepted through the first half. Only cash or checks will be accepted at the surplus sale.
Local actress Dakota Hood, who recently appeared in the hit movie "The Hunger Games," will perform the national anthem. Throughout the scrimmage, stars from teams past who are in town for the annual Players' Reunion will be recognized and interviewed. Following the game, fans are invited to come down to the field to meet and greet the current players and coaches.
Other events surrounding the game include the Wolfpack Club Barbeque Bowl, which will take place in the RV lot. Judging will begin at 11 a.m., with former Pack players doing the honors. At noon, there will be a Corn Hole Tournament, a Megagate Challenge and a Kids Zone with inflatables in the east lot. On Saturday morning, the Holt Foundation, which is run by former Pack stars Terrence and Torry Holt, will hold its inaugural "Answers for Cancer" Walk. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the grassy area in front of the PNC Arena and the walk will begin at 9:30 and conclude at 11. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Holt Foundation and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
The Pack will play six games at home in 2012 and fans can renew their season tickets here. State will open the season on August 31 versus Tennessee in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff game at the Georgia Dome. Tickets are available for that contest here.
