RALEIGH, N.C. - The kickoff times for NC State’s first two games of the 2014 season were announced today by the Atlantic Coast Conference. The ACC Network has set the game time for the Wolfpack’s Aug. 30 opener against Georgia Southern for 12:30 p.m. and will broadcast the game live on ACC Network affiliates throughout the country. The Old Dominion contest on Sept. 6 will be broadcast on ESPN3 and have a 6 p.m. start.
Wolfpack legend Mario Williams, whose Buffalo Bills squad will play their last preseason game on Aug. 28, will return to Carter-Finley for the Georgia Southern game to have his jersey officially honored. The three-time Pro Bowl selection, who is the only player in ACC history to be the top selection in the NFL draft, will see his No. 9 jersey added to the display in the stadium where he set school records for tackles for loss and sacks.
The banners honoring Williams will hang beside those of other Wolfpack legends on the facade of Carter-Finley Stadium. Those players include QB Roman Gabriel, OL Jim Ritcher, HB Dick Christy, RB Ted Brown, WR Torry Holt, DE Dennis Byrd, OG Bill Yoest, QB Philip Rivers and QB Russell Wilson, who was honored at the 2014 Kay Yow Spring Game.
Heat management and relief plans will be put in place as necessary for the early season games and communicated to fans in advance of the game.
