Wilson, Young Named to Award Watch Lists
Wolfpack quarterback Russell Wilson and defensive end Willie Young have added to their list of preseason honors. Wilson has been named to the ‘watch’ list for the Maxwell Award while Young is on the list for the Bednarik Trophy.
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the outstanding collegiate football player in America since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell. The Maxwell Football Club, founded in 1935, is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the oldest football club in the United States. Wilson is one of 55 players on the preseason list for the award.
The Chuck Bednarik Award has been presented since 1995 and is named in honor of Chuck Bednarik, a former University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Eagle great. Mr. Bednarik is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame 69’ and the NFL Hall of Fame 67’. Young is also one of 55 players on the list for that award.
