RALEIGH, N.C. - A total of 23 former NC State players opened the 2013 NFL season on NFL rosters. Below is a recap of their performances in the first week of the season.
David Amerson was a starter at cornerback in the game versus the Philadelphia Eagles. In his season debut for the Washing Redskins, Amerson collected four tackles and one pass deflection in their loss to the Eagles, 33-27.
Andre Brown suffered a broken leg in a preseason game. He was put on the Reserve/Designated To Return list, and is expected to fully recover and be ready to play in October.
Audi Cole enters his second year with the Minnesota Vikings. Cole played behind Erin Henderson, and recorded one tackle in their loss versus the Detroit Lions 34-24.
Jerricho Cotchery is beginning his 10th NFL season, third with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a loss to the Tennessee Titans, Cotchery hauled in four balls for 34 yards and also had a touchdown grab.
Mike Glennon entering his first year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Glennon was the No. 2 QB behind Josh Freeman. The Buccaneers suffered a loss to the Jets in their season opener, 18-17.
T.J. Graham in his second year with the Buffalo Bills, suffered a loss to the New England Patriots 33-21. Although he did not record any catches, he did have one rush for five yards.
Leroy Harris enters his seventh NFL season, first with the Detroit Lions, and helped the Lions beat the Vikings 34-24.
Steven Hauschka was resigned by the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason. Hauschka attempted two field goals and made both. His longest kick being 40 yards in their win versus the Carolina Panthers, 17-7.
Nate Irving, the Broncos linebacker and third year player, had three solo tackles and four total tackles as they were victorious over the defending champion Ravens, 49-27.
Markus Kuhn a defensive lineman for the New York Giants, tore his ACL in 2012, and remains hopeful to play later this season.
Ted Larsen is entering his fourth season on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line, played behind Jeremy Zuttah. The Bucs suffered a loss to the New York Jets in their season opener, 18-17.
Manny Lawson is entering his first season with the Buffalo Bills, but eighth season overall. Lawson recorded four tackles in their loss to the New England Patriots.
Terrell Manning enters his second season, first with the San Diego Chargers where he is playing inside linebacker and on special teams. They suffered a lost in their first game to the Houston Texans, 31-28.
Tobias Palmer who was undrafted this past April, was put on the practice squad after playing in a few of the Jacksonville Jaguars preseason games. The Jaguars suffered a lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 28-2.
Phillip Rivers is entering his 10th season as the San Diego Chargers starting quarterback. In their season opener, Rivers was 14-of-29 for 195 yards and four touchdowns.
J.R. Sweezy who entered the NFL as a defensive lineman, has made the transition to right guard and is now the starter for the Seattle Seahawks. Sweezy helped lead his team to a 12-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
Stephen Tulloch enters his eight NFL season, third with the Detroit Lions. Tulloch recorded three total tackles in their win over the Minnesota Vikings, 34-24.
Mario Williams is entering his eighth season, second with the Buffalo Bills. Williams recorded two tackles in their loss to the New England Patriots.
Adrian Wilson suffered an injury during the preseason, and is now on injury reserve for the New England Patriots.
CJ Wilson who signed as a rookie free agent, made the Chicago Bears 53-man roster. Wilson and the Bears won their first game 24-21 versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
Russell Wilson is entering his second year with the Seattle Seahawks. He started the 2013 season with another outstanding performance. Wilson was 25-for-33 for 320 yards and one touchdown as they went on to beat the Panthers 12-7.
Earl Wolff is entering his rookie season, Wolff will back up Nate Allen at the safety position, but started on special teams. Wolff and the Eagles were victorious over the Washington Redskins, 33-27.
Willie Young is entering his fourth year with the Detroit Lions, and will back-up Ezekiel Ansah. In their season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, Young recorded three tackles as they won 34-24.
