Amerson Takes ACC Honors Again
Oct. 24, 2011
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State sophomore cornerback David Amerson has been named ACC Defensive Back of the Week after intercepting two passes, including one for a score, this past Saturday in the Wolfpack's 28-14 win at Virginia. Amerson leads all FBS players with eight interceptions on the season - three more than any other player.
The accolade marks the second of the year for Amerson. He was previously named ACC Defensive Back of the Week following the Central Michigan contest.
Amerson picked off his first pass in the second quarter on Saturday, and swiped another in the fourth quarter, returning it for his first career touchdown. He has now picked off a pair of passes in three games, including back-to-back contests.
Amerson has now tied the school record for most interceptions in a single season, set by Art Rooney in 1937 and repeated by Rooney in '38.
In addition to the interceptions, Amerson also tallied six tackles against the Cavaliers.
