Pack Concludes Play at Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The NC State men's golf team completed play at its first tournament of the 2014 spring season on Tuesday afternoon. Following three rounds at the Rio Mar Country Club's River Course, State ended the tournament in 15th place with a team score of 897 (+33).
No. 1 Alabama took top honors at the tournament with a score of 819 (-45). No. 3 Georgia Tech was not far behind, earning second place with a team score of 823 (-41).
After shooting a 296 on Sunday and a 293 on Monday, the Wolfpack finished the final round of the tournament with a score of 308.
Senior Logan Harrell led the way for NC State at the tournament, shooting a three-round score of 217 (+1) to finish tied for 35th. In each of the three rounds, the native of Huntersville, N.C., shot the lowest score among all his teammates. Harrell's second-round 69 was the best mark achieved by a Wolfpack golfer at the competition.
James Chapman and David Cooke were State's next two finishers, tying for 61st and 64th, respectively. Chapman shot 74-73-78 to end with a 225 (+9) while Cooke recorded scores of 74-75-77 to end with a 226 (+10).
Rounding out things for NC State were Carter Page (70th) and Chad Cox (73rd). Page shot a 78 on the final round of play to end with a 229 (+13) while Cox carded an 80 his third time through the course, ultimately ending the competition with a 237 (+21).
