Harrell Places Eighth at Palmetto Intercollegiate

AIKEN, S.C. – Logan Harrell of the NC State men’s golf team capped off a stellar showing at the 2014 Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The senior finished eighth in the field of 90 golfers following three rounds of play at the Palmetto Golf Club.
Harrell shot a three-round score of 215 (+5) at the tournament to lead NC State’s 10th-place finish among the field of 18 teams. As a group, the Wolfpack shot a three-round score of 889 (+49) including its score of 301 (+21) during Tuesday’s final round.
"I hit the ball really well off the tee this week and did a good job of managing myself in the tough conditions," Harrell said. "Looking forward, I just want to give myself a few more good looks for birdies and see what I can do from there."
James Chapman and Stanhope Johnson were NC State’s next two finishers, as each student athlete tied for 38th place in the field of 90 golfers. Chapman shot a 76 on the final day while Johnson posted a 77. Each golfer ended the tournament with a final score of 223 (+13).
McBride made a huge improvement from his final round on Monday to Tuesday’s finish, dropping 13 strokes between rounds two and three.
The Wolfpack will get right back in action on Friday, March 14 at the three-day Chris Schenkel Invitational. The tournament will be played at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
