Two Place in Top 30 at Hootie at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. – The NC State men’s golf team completed the final day of play at the 2014 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Led by top-30 finishes from Logan Harrell and David Cooke, the Pack placed ninth with a team score of 881 (+17).
The Wolfpack shot an even-par score of 288 on the final day of action at Bulls Bay Golf Club to finish ahead of South Carolina-Aiken, Charleston Southern, Akron, Wisconsin, and Atlantic Coast Conference foes Duke and North Carolina.
Cooke tied his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 69 (-3) to finish with a 220 (+4) and tied for 29th with Harrell. Playing a very balanced tournament, Harrell went 73-74-73 on the course throughout the three days of competition.
“We have been working really hard as a team to help and support one another,” Harrell said after finishing at least tied for first on the team for the third time in four tournaments this spring.
“We know that every week is an important one and that it’s time to limit our mistakes and take advantage of all the opportunities we have, “ he added.
James Chapman was State’s next finisher at the tournament, placing 34th with a three-round score of 221 (+5). Following an opening-round 76, the redshirt junior hovered right around par for the rest of the tournament, shooting a 72 on Monday and a 73 on Tuesday.
Carter Page and Stanhope Johnson rounded things out for the Pack at the tournament, tying for 46th and 52nd, respectively. Page finished with a three-round score of 225 (+9) while Johnson carded a 227 (+11).
NC State will next be in action on Monday, Apr. 7 at the Redhawk Invitational in University Place, Washington. The two-day tournament will be played at the Chambers Bay Golf Club.
