KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Top-10 finishes by Albin Choi and William Herring led the NC State men's golf team to a second-place finish at the Irish Creek Collegiate on Sunday at The Club at Irish Creek, a par-71 layout that covers 7,099 yards.
The Wolfpack shot a final-round 5-over 289 to finish at 9-over 861, two shots behind North Carolina at +7, who began the day with a four-shot lead after 36 holes on Saturday.
NC State has now placed in the top-3 of four-consecutive tournaments.
Choi, who ranks fifth in the Golfstat Cup standings, tied for fourth at 1-under 212 to finish inside the top-6 for the ninth time in 10 events in 2012-13.
William Herring fired the Pack's best round of the day with an even-par 71 to finish tied for 10th at 1-over 214.
Mitch Sutton tied for 23rd at 5-over 218, while Logan Harrell and Carter Page placed in a tie for 35th and 41st, respectively, at +9 and +10.
Jimmy Beck of Kennesaw State won the individual title at 8-under 205, holding off Charlotte's Franco Castro, who fired a 6-under 65 on Sunday to finish one shot in back of Beck.
NC State will host the Wolfpack Spring Open on April 20-21 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
