Pack Tied for Seventh after First Round at ACC Championship

NEW LONDON, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team completed the first day of play at the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship on Friday afternoon. Following one time through the course at the Old North State Country Club, the Wolfpack is currently tied for seventh place with a team score of 293 (+5).
No. 19 Florida State holds the top spot at the tournament after the first round of play, having shot a combined mark of 284 (-4). No. 5 Georgia Tech and Clemson occupy the second and third spots, scoring 288 (E) and 289 (+1), respectively.
State currently ranks tied with defending champion Duke and ahead of Notre Dame, No. 8 Virginia, No. 12 Virginia Tech, and Maryland at the Championship.
Carter Page led the way for the Wolfpack on Friday, shooting a 71 (-1) to end the day tied for sixth place. The sophomore had a very strong performance on the back nine, carding four birdies.
Jacob McBride was State’s next finisher, tying for 15th with his even-par score of 72.
Logan Harrell and James Chapman each tied for 33rd with scores of 75 (+3), while David Cooke rounded out the Pack’s first day at the tournament with his score of 76 (+4) to tie for 43rd in the field of 60 golfers.
The second round of the Championship begins Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
