RALEIGH, N.C. - Junior All-American Albin Choi leads at 7-under-par at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at UNC Finley Golf Course, and NC State is tied for fourth after 36 holes of play on Saturday.
The Wolfpack led after the first round at 6-under 282, but a second round 13-over 301 left the club in a tie for fourth at 7-over 583.
Choi leads the field by three strokes over a pair of golfers from North Carolina - Patrick Barrett and Michael McGowan - and ETSU's Rhys Pugh. Choi fired a 6-under 66 during his first round, and folllowed that up with a 71 to finish his 36-hole day at 7-under 137.
Freshman Stanhope Johnson had a spectacular start to his collegiate career with a 4-under 68, but couldn't keep that pace up by shooting a 77 in the afternoon and is tied for 19th at 1-over 145.
Senior Mitch Sutton is tied for 44th at 5-over 149 (73-76), while sophomore Andrew Decker is tied for 59th at 8-over 152 (75-77).
Senior Hunter Howell is 74th at 12-over 156 (76-80).
Playing as individuals, freshmen Carter Page and Chad Cox are tied for 63rd and 68th respectively at 9-over 153 and 10-over 154.
NC State starts its third round on Sunday at 8:25 a.m.
