Wolfpack Completes Day One at Saint Mary's Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. – The NC State men’s golf team completed the first day of play Monday at the 2013 Saint Mary’s Invitational. Following two rounds of action, the Wolfpack sits in 13th place among the 19-team field.
As a team, the Wolfpack shot a two-round score of 603 (+27) on Monday. NC State finished the first round of the tournament on the Bayonet Golf Course with a score of 302 and then ended the day with a team score of 301 on the Black Horse Golf Course.
Logan Harrell (Huntersville, N.C.) led the way for State on Monday, shooting a two-round score of 148 (+4) to end tied for 23rd place. After collecting two birdies on the first course, Harrell stepped up his play during his second round, hitting six birdies throughout the second set of 18 holes.
Carter Page (Waynesville, N.C.) and Andrew Decker (Greenville, N.C.) were the Pack’s next finishers, each ending the day tied for 49th in the field of 104 golfers. Page shot scores of 74 and 78 while Decker turned in a steady 76-76 throughout the two rounds.
Ending Monday’s competition fourth for the Wolfpack and tied for 59th overall was James Chapman (Gastonia, N.C.). The redshirt junior improved three strokes from his first-round 78, carding a 75 in the second round to end with a 153.
Stanhope Johnson (Greensboro, N.C.) rounded out the first day of competition for NC State, tying for 84th with a two-round score of 156. Johnson collected a total of four birdies throughout his first two rounds of action.
The Wolfpack will resume play at the Saint Mary’s Invitational on Tuesday morning with a final-round shotgun start scheduled for 11 a.m. EST.
