Men's Golf in 3rd at Wolfpack Intercollegiate Albin Choi and Hunter Howell both sit in top-5 with 18 holes left on Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State is in third place, and Wolfpack All-American Albin Choi is one stroke out of the lead after day one of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

East Carolina holds a slim one-shot advantage heading into Saturday’s final round. The Pirates sit at 1-over 577, just ahead of North Carolina at 2-over 578. NC State is third at 11-over 587.

Maryland’s Andrew McCain and Western Carolina’s J.T. Poston lead the individual standings at 2-under 142. Poston’s second-round 68 matched Patrick Barrett’s (North Carolina) opening round for the low round of the day.

Choi and Zach Edmondson of East Carolina are tied for third at 1-under 143. Choi shot a 3-under 69 in the afternoon round to rebound from a 74 in the morning.

Wolfpack senior Hunter Howell shot a pair of 72s and is tied for fifth.

A handful of NC State individuals played well on Friday. William Herring is tied for 12th at 1-over 145 after a 69 in the afternoon.

James Chapman, Wilson Day and Chad Cox are all tied for 15th at 2-over 146. Chapman had a 69 in the first round, Cox did the same in the second round, and Day fared well in his collegiate debut for the Wolfpack.

Andrew Decker is tied for 21st at 3-over 147 for the Pack.

The third and final round of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate will begin Saturday at 8 a.m., off holes 1 and 10. NC State will be in the final group with ECU and UNC from 9:03 a.m. to 9:39 a.m. off the first hole.
