Men's Golf Ends Fall Season at Bridgestone Intercollegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team ended its 2013 fall season at the Bridgestone Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon, finishing 11th among the 14-team field.
State carded a four-over par score of 292 on the first day of competition Saturday afternoon and followed it up with a second-round 300 (+12). The Wolfpack finished the tournament with a two-round score of 592 (+16) to finish ahead of William & Mary, Iowa State, and High Point.
North Carolina won the tournament, shooting a five-under par score of 571. The Tar Heels were followed by Chattanooga (second, 577) and Memphis (third, 580).
Carter Page and Logan Harrell led the way for the Wolfpack over the weekend in Greensboro, tying for 30th in the field of 80 golfers with scores of 148 (+4). Page shot a 73 on Saturday and followed it up with a 75 Sunday while Harrell recorded two steady scores of 74.
Jacob McBride was State’s next finisher, tying for 36th place with a two-round score of 149 (+5). McBride tied with teammate Stanhope Johnson, who competed on the individual side of the tournament and also finished with a 149. Johnson dropped three strokes from his first-round 76 to record a 73 on Sunday.
Rounding things out for the Wolfpack on the team side of the competition were James Chapman and David Cooke. Chapman went 71-80 to tie for 52nd with a 151 (+7) while Cooke recorded scores of 79 and 76 to end the day tied for 68th place with an 11-over-par score of 155.
Wilson Day also competed in the individual portion of the competition, placing 76th with a two-round score of 158 (+14). Day shot a 78 on Saturday and followed this up with an 80 on Sunday.
