Richardson Two-Over After First Round Of Carpet Capital Collegiate

DALTON, Ga. - Jerry Richardson shot two-over-par in the first round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Friday and is tied for 18th place. The sophomore from Burlington, N.C. leads his NC State team, which is tied for 16th place of 18 teams at The Farm Golf Club (Par 72, 7,010 yards) going into the second round.
Richardson shot par on the first six holes, birdied the seventh and made the turn at three-over. He made up a stroke with a birdie on hole 15 and shot par on the rest of the backside.
Stephen Lewton is five-over and tied for 37th, but the rest of the Wolfpack ran into some trouble. Banks Wood was three-over at the turn, but finished the first round 12-over and Garry Hill was five-over on the front nine, but came in 11-over after 18. Jace Strandberg, playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot par on the first four holes of the back nine and is 12-over going into round two.
