Future Pack Golfer Named N.C. Junior Player of the Year

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's golf signee Will Blalock was named the North Carolina Junior Player of the Year on Tuesday. Blalock is a 17-year-old high school senior at Forestview High School and signed to play for the Wolfpack men's golf program in November 2013.
Finishing in the top 10 on 10 different occasions in 17 tournaments played, Blalock won the prestigious Junior North and South Amateur Championship, the Bobby Chapman Junior Invitational, and the Phil Wallace Holiday Classic all within the last calendar year. In August, he was selected and represented the Carolinas Golf Association in the Virginia-Carolinas Junior Team Matches.
Back in November of 2013, Blalock was ranked No. 11 on GolfWeek's list of the top 100 players from the class of 2014.
About the N.C. Player of the Year Award
NC State had a strong fall 2013 season, earning two top-three team finishes in four tournaments. Individually, State golfers combined for nine finishes within the top 20 of a tournament field and 20 rounds at or under par in official competition.
The Wolfpack will begin the 2014 spring schedule at the Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 23. The three-day tournament will be played at Rio Mar Golf Club in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.
