Men's Golf Sits Sixth at General Hackler Championship
MURRELLS INLET, S.C. – After playing two rounds on Sunday, the NC State men’s golf team currently sits in sixth place at the General Hackler Championship being played at the TPC of Myrtle Beach at Murrells Inlet, S.C. The Pack is 10 strokes off the lead, as NC State sits at 21-over par (597) through two rounds.
NC State shot a seven-over (306) in the first round, then a three-over (291) later in the day. The Pack’s second round score was the second-best team score of the day.
The Pack currently has three golfers in the top-20 after two rounds.
Sophomore Mark McMillen leads the Pack, as he is in a tie for eighth place at one-over (145) after playing two rounds. McMillen shot an even-par (72) in the first round, then a one-over (73) later in the day. In the first round, McMillen had three birdies and had an eagle on the par-five No. 6. In the second round, McMillen had two birdies and another eagle on the par-five No. 2.
Freshman Mitchell Sutton is currently in 12th place at four-over (148). Sutton shot a six-over (78) in the first round, but used six birdies in the second round and shot a two-under (70).
Junior Matt Hill is in 16th place at six-over (150). In the first round, Hill shot a five-over (77) and then had a one-over (73) in the second round. In the afternoon round, Hill had two birdies and had an eagle on the par-five No. 6.
Senior Adam Hogue finished the two rounds at 10-over (154), and senior Brad Revell is 12-over (156).
East Tennessee State holds the team lead at 11-over (587), while Seamus Power of East Tennessee State holds the individual lead at four-under (140).
