Wolfpack Opens ACC Championship Play Friday

RALEIGH – The NC State men’s golf team travels down the road this weekend to compete at the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship. Hosted at the Old North State Country Club in New London, N.C., the three-day competition will begin on Friday morning.
The Old North State Country Club will play a par of 72 over 7,102 yards. The tournament is scheduled for 18 holes to be played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. First round pairings will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, with NC State taking to the tees at 9:20 a.m.
During Friday’s first round, Wolfpack student athletes will be paired with golfers from North Carolina and defending ACC champion Duke. The full field consists of four nationally ranked teams, including No. 5 Georgia Tech, No. 8 Virginia, No. 12 Virginia Tech, and No. 19 Florida State.
Saturday and Sunday’s rounds will be streamed live on the ACC Digital Network beginning at 2 p.m.
As a team, NC State was last in action on Sunday, April 20 at the Wolfpack Spring Open. Playing on its home Lonnie Poole Golf Course, the Pack finished fourth in the 15-team field with a total score of 298 (+10). Senior Logan Harrell finished atop the leaderboard, carding a 67 (-5) to win the fourth edition of the annual tournament.
