Live Scoring | NCAA Ann Arbor Regional Central | NCAA Championship Program
A seasoned group of five men's golfers will represent NC State this week at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional, Thursday through Saturday, May 17-19, at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The competitors will play 54 holes (18 each day) on the par-71, 6,723-yard U-M Golf Course.
NC State is the No. 10 seed among 13 teams. The low five teams at the Ann Arbor Regional and the low individual not on a qualifying team will advance to the NCAA Championships, to be held May 29-June 3 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
All five Wolfpack golfers have played in at least one NCAA Regional, with senior Graham Baillargeon and junior Mitchell Sutton each preparing for their third appearance.
Baillargeon competed for the Wolfpack at last year's Florida Regional, and also played in the NCAA East Regional for Michigan State during the 2007-08 season.
Baillargeon, from Mississauga, Ontario, played on the U-M Golf Course as a sophomore in 2008-09, and finished tied for sixth at 4-under 209 at the Wolverine Intercollegiate.
Meanwhile, Sutton, a native of London, Ontario, earned co-medalist honors last year at the Florida Regional by posting a 54-hole score of 10-under 206.
The other three State competitors this week will make their second career regional appearance.
Senior Chad Day (Raleigh, N.C.) makes his second-straight appearance after competing last season in Florida, while classmate Mark McMillen (Smithfield, N.C.) was among the Wolfpack contingent at the 2010 Central Regional at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
All-ACC sophomore Albin Choi will compete for the second year in a row after finishing at even-par 216 (T24) at the Golden Ocala Course in Ocala, Fla., in 2011.
Choi, who hails from Toronto, Ontario, was named All-ACC for a second-straight season last week. He leads the Pack with a 72.11 scoring average.
Baillargeon, Choi, Day and Sutton all competed at the 2011 NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla., as well so this group brings plenty of experience to Ann Arbor.
State will play alongside Notre Dame and Ohio State beginning on hole 10 on Thursday between 9:10 and 9:50 a.m.
This is the 38th appearance in NCAA postseason play for the Wolfpack, including 13 in the last 15 seasons, and the 20th overall since the regional format was changed back in 1989.
