    Choi Downs Defending NCAA Champ 4&3 at U.S. Amateur Rising junior Albin Choi will now play in the Round of 16 at 3:45 p.m. ET on Thursday

    CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo.     - Rising junior Albin Choi advanced to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Amateur on Thursday by downing 2012 NCAA national champion Thomas Pieters 4 & 3 at Cherry Hills Country Club.

    Choi was 2 up thru five holes when Pieters aced the par 3 6th to shift momentum in the match.

    All square at the turn, Choi went 1 up at No. 10 and then won holes 12, 14 and 15 with par at each to end the game.

    Choi will now face rising junior Michael Weaver of California in the Round of 16 on Thursday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. ET.

    Golf Channel will have live coverage Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. of the eight third round matches.
