Sept. 14, 2012
NC State won't have to travel far when it opens the 2012 fall portion of its schedule this weekend at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The format is a two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Tee times begin at 7:40 a.m., each day off Nos. 1 and 10 tees.
NC State will role out a lineup mixed with returning veterans and one newcomer. Topping the five-man lineup is two-time All-American Albin Choi, who will begin his third season in Raleigh and is coming off a successful summer that saw him compete all over the globe, and enters the weekend the No. 34 ranked amateur in the world.
Also back in the mix is 2011 All-American Mitch Sutton and fellow senior Hunter Howell, who also played well this summer on the amateur circuit.
Freshman Stanhope Johnson and sophomore Andrew Decker also qualified for the season-opening event. This will be Johnson's first collegiate event, while Decker competed in five events last season and recorded a 75.1 stroke average.
Freshmen Carter Page and Chad Cox will play as individuals for the Wolfpack.
