    First Round Results

    ANTALYA, Turkey
    - NC State men's golfer Albin Choi and Team Canada are tied for seventh after the first round of the World Amateur Team Championship.

Choi, the Toronto native, shot an even-par 71 at the Antalya Golf Club that measures 6,359 meters (6,954 yards). He recorded three birdies - two on  par-5s - and three bogeys on Thursday and is tied for 49th among 250 competing golfers.

Teammates Mackenzie Hughes (-5, T3) and Corey Connors (-1, T36) figured in the scoring for Canada, after the high score among the three was dropped.

Canada finished at 6-under 136 to tie with Venezuela and Zimbabwe at the 72-team field.

"It was a decent start for the guys today," said Canada coach Derek Ingram. "Mackenzie played very well, and Corey and Albin played solid but didn't get much out of their rounds.

"A low round was out there for the team, but we just couldn't convert several opportunities. Still, everyone is playing well, and we're excited for a good day tomorrow."

United States leads by four strokes at 13-under 131 over Mexico (-9) and by five shots over Republic of Korea (-8).

Canada will play with Norway and Iceland on Friday on the Cornelia Golf Club designed by Nick Faldo.
