Pack to Conclude Fall Season at Bridgestone Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team returns to action this weekend, traveling west to nearby Greensboro for the 2013 Bridgestone Intercollegiate. The two-day event at Grandover Resort will serve as the program’s final action of the fall season.
State will be one of 14 schools competing at the tournament, as the Wolfpack will go up against golfers from Chattanooga, Georgia State, High Point, Iowa State, Memphis, Mississippi State, Purdue, host UNC Greensboro, VCU, Washington State, and William & Mary. Head coach Richard Sykes’ team will also meet up with Atlantic Coast Conference foes North Carolina and Virginia Tech at the competition.
The format of the tournament will be 54-hole stroke play with 36 holes scheduled for Saturday and 18 lined up for Sunday. The course at Grandover Resort plays a par of 72 on 7,245 yards.
Competition will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Fans can follow live stats on GolfStat.com throughout the competition and can check GoPack.com for daily recaps of the action.
State enters the tournament following a third-place finish at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Oct. 7 and 8. Two NC State golfers placed within the top 11 of the 90-player tournament field at this competition and two more finished within the top 18.
Throughout the fall season, the team has played in three tournaments. In 64 combined rounds of play, Wolfpack golfers have shot an average score of 74.3 strokes per round. Among golfers who have played two or more rounds on the season, Carter Page leads the way for NC State with an average score of 73.1 strokes per 18 holes. Page has finished within the top 10 of a tournament field on one occasion and within the top 20 of a tournament field during his other two tournaments.
