    Hill, Men's Golf Ranked Nationally
     
     

    RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State sophomore Matt Hill is currently ranked as the No. 1 collegiate golfer nationally while head coach Richard Sykes' team is ranked in the top-20 nationally. Golfstat and Golfweek are both high on the Wolfpack, ranking Hill No. 1 nationally and the team at No. 19.

    Hill won the Maryland Invitational to start the fall season, including a personal-best 65 in the final round, the second-lowest round in school history. His stroke average of 69.43 leads the NCAA.

    The team has finished in the top-4 in all three of its fall tournaments, including a pair of second-place finishes at the Hartford Hawks Invite and the Maryland Intercollegiate.

    Another current Wolfpack golfer, senior Darren Blair, is ranked No. 60 nationally by Golfweek after winning The Ridges Tournament on October 26.

    The No. 19 NC State golf team has completed its fall season, but will return to action in February.



    NOTES ON FORMER NC STATE GOLFERS:

    Former NC State golfer Garth Mulroy is competing at the Nationwide Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch, Nov. 6-9. Mulroy, who has four top-11 finishes on the tour this season, including two top-4 finishes. Mulroy is hoping to earn his PGA Tour card at the championship. Follow live results HERE.

    Three of Sykes' former players - Justin Walters, David Sanchez and Fernando Mechereffe - recently made it through the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School, with the hopes of following Marc Turnesa onto the regular tour sometime soon.
