Oronde Ash begins his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Wolfpack. As an assistant, Ash's responsibilities include scheduling games, recruiting, directing the NC State Soccer School for Boys each summer, in addition to on-filed coaching and community relations. He will establish and maintain the team's budget. Ash served as the Wolfpack's Graduate Administrative Assistant during the 1999 season, then spent two years teaching elementary school in Brooklyn, N.Y., before returning to the Wolfpack soccer team for the 2002 season. A former starting midfielder for NC State under Coach Tarantini, Ash played for the Wolfpack from 1994-97. He finished his career with 10 goals and 12 assists for 32 points. He played in 63 career games, making 40 starts. Born in Barrouallie, St. Vincent, West Indies, Ash made appearances with the St. Vincent's National Team. Ash played in the 1996 Gold Cup against Mexico and Guatemala, and in the 2002 World Cup Qualifiers against Jamaica, Honduras, and El Salvador. He earned his bachelor's degree in mass communication from NC State in 1998. Ash is married to the former Shawna Daniels and the couple had their first child, Ohene, in June of 2003. | |||||||||||
