Former Wolfpack player David Allred is in his second stint as an assistant coach with NC State. Allred returned to the Wolfpack for the 2002 season, and is in his third season.
Allred, who served as an assistant for the Wolfpack after his playing days, will help in recruiting and on-field coaching. Allred was a three year starter in the nets for the Wolfpack (1989-91). He currently ranks sixth in career saves at NC State with 209, and finished his career playing in 52 matches allowing only 1.14 goals per game. In 1990, Allred was the starting keeper on NC State's 1990 ACC Championships team that advanced to the Final Four.
After his playing career, Allred was an assistant coach at NC State (1992-94) and also at Duke (1998). On the professional level, Allred has spent time with the Colorado, Columbus, Kansas City, New England, and Tampa Bay all of the MLS. In addition, Allred has played for the Raleigh Capital Express.
Allred is a 1992 graduate in communications from NC State. He also has received his masters from NC State in park, recreation, and tourism. Allred is married to the former Lori Quinn, and the couple had their first child, Quinn, in January of 2003.
