Oct. 22, 2011
Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State men's soccer team fell to visiting Wake Forest Saturday night, 5-2, in the Pack's final home contest of the season. The Demon Deacons (7-6-2, 4-3 ACC) scored the first three goals of the contest, and a pair of goals by the Pack's (6-8-2, 2-4 ACC) Nazmi Albadawi were not enough to answer for NC State.
Wake Forest notched a pair of first-half goals. Teddy Mullin struck first in the 23rd minute, as his free kick from 19 yards out found the back of the net. Just before half, the Demon Deacons added a second tally, as Andy Lubahan's through-ball found Luca Gimenez for a breakaway in the 44th minute.
The Demon Deacons' Danny Wenzel converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute to push the lead to 3-0.
NC State would answer in the 67th minute. Jorge Risquez won a ball in the midfield and found Zabarle Kollie on the right wing. Kollie crossed the ball into the box, and Albadawi found the back of the net at the 66:17 to cut into the lead.
Wake Forest would respond however, with a pair of goals just over two minutes apart. Sean Okoli scored in the 71st minute, and Gimenez added his second goal of the night in the 73rd minute.
Albadawi would find the back of the net again in the 74th minute, for his team leading eighth mark of the season.
NC State will return to action next weekend, when the Pack travels to North Carolina Friday night.
