Men's Soccer Falls to UNC in ACC Tournament
Nov. 8, 2011 Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State men's soccer team concluded its 2011 season, falling to North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, 4-0, in Chapel Hill Tuesday night. North Carolina (15-2-2) netted a pair of scores in the first half. Jordan Gafa took a long set piece and found the back of the net in the 13th minute. In the 33rd minute, Matt Hedges headed in a long pass from Enzo Martinez to put UNC up 2-0. The Pack's (7-11-2) best chance of the first half came in the 19th minute, when Moritz Steidten's header of a Ryan Metts corner kick narrowly missed the crner of the net. UNC held a 6-2 edge in shots in the first 45 minutes. UNC came out with a quick start to the second half, scoring a pair of goals just 29 seconds apart in the 50th minute. Mikey Lopez struck first at the 49:05 mark, followed by Carlos McCrary at the 49:34 mark. The Pack nearly converted in the 62nd minute, but Jorge Risquez's header from an Ollie Kelly cross rolled just wide.
