Five Men's Soccer Players Named to All-ACC Academic Team

RALEIGH, N.C. - Five members of the NC State men's soccer team were named to the 2010 All-ACC Academic team announced by the ACC. Senior Chris Zuerner, juniors Will Mackvick, Zane Tharakan and Watt Williams, and sophomore Michael Smith all were named to the academic squad.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
Zuerner made the all-academic squad for the third straight season. During his senior season, the midfielder tied for the team lead with six goals, and finished second in both points (17) and assists (5).
Tharakan started the final 13 games as an outside defender, and finished seventh in the ACC with five assists on the season. Smith made 17 starts in the midfield, scoring four goals and adding four assists.
Mackvick started 16 games in goal for the Pack this past season, recording a pair of shutouts and a 1.57 GAA. Williams appeared on 12 games, finishing with one goal and four assists on the season.
