NC State hits the road in search of its first conference win of the season, taking on Boston College Friday at 7 p.m.
"We've shown a lot of growth in the last week," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "It's important for us to handle adversity in the same way that we managed our successes early in the year. We have the qualities to win consistently, but this week will come down to our approach. Making sure we stick to our goals will be the challenge that dictates how successful we can be against Boston College, and for the rest of the season."
The Wolfpack (7-3, 0-2 ACC) rebounded from a three-game skid with a 2-0 win over Gardner-Webb Tuesday in Raleigh behind goals from Monbo Bokar and Alex Martinez.
Martinez's goal marked his eighth of the year, good for share of fourth nationally. The junior also added an assist, bringing his total to 21 for the year, also ranking him in the top-five nationally.
Boston College (4-3-1, 0-1-1) enters the contest on a two-game winning streak. The Eagles dropped Rhode Island 4-2 during the week after topping San Francisco 2-1 in double overtime a week ago. BC's last loss came in a 2-0 decision at No. 2 UConn on September 19.
The Eagles are led by Derrick Boateng and Charlie Rugg, responsible for three goals each. State boasts three players: Martinez, Bokar, and Zabarle Kollie with more than three goals on the year.
NC State won its last meeting with Boston College, 2-1 in Raleigh during the 2011 season. The last time these two teams met in Chestnut Hill, the Eagles prevailed 4-3 in 2010. While the all-time series record stands at an even 4-4-1, the Pack has won three of the last four meetings.
