RALEIGH, N.C. – The 18th-ranked NC State men’s soccer team will step out of conference play this Tuesday, as the Wolfpack plays host to undefeated Wofford at 7:00 p.m. at the Dail Soccer Field.
The Wolfpack is coming off of a perfect 2-0 week last week, winning home contests against South Carolina (1-0) and Boston College (2-1, double overtime). On the season, NC State is 5-0 in non-conference games, outscoring its opponents 14-2.
With his two-goal effort in downing the Eagles, junior Tyler Lassiter was named to both the CollegeSoccerNew.com team of the week and Soccer America's team of the week.
NC State is ranked for the fifth straight week of the season, as the Pack is No. 19 according to CollegeSoccerNews.com and No. 25 in Soccer America. In Tuesday's released polls, the Pack is No. 18 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll and No. 21 in Soccer Times.
The Pack’s offense continues to lead the ACC in points with 6.78 a game, and NC State is second with its 2.00 goals per game. Senior Ronnie Bouemboue is tops in the ACC with both his five goals and 15 points, while classmate Alan Sanchez leads the conference with his six assists.
Wofford enters the contest as one of four NCAA Division I teams yet to suffer a loss this season. The Terriers hold a 5-0-3 record on the season, and 1-0-1 in Southern Conference action, coming off of a 2-2 tie with UNC Greensboro this past weekend.
The Terriers have outscored the opposition 13-6 on the season, as Kentrel Owens leds the team with his three scores. Thomas Hunter has played every minute in goal this far, posting a 0.67 GAA and four shutouts.
