NC State soccer travels to No. 17 Wake Forest for a 7 p.m. kickoff this Friday, as the Pack hopes to build on the momentum generated by its win at Virginia Tech last weekend.
The Wolfpack (8-6, 1-4 ACC) knocked off Virginia Tech a week ago behind Danny DiPrima's second goal of the season, and an assist from Alex Martinez. Martinez sits one point behind Maryland's Patrick Mullins for the ACC lead, and one goal behind Virginia's Will Bates.
Wake Forest (8-2-4, 2-1-3) enter the contest having pasted Virginia 4-1 last Friday, and boast wins in each of the last seven meetings with State. Michael Gamble, Luca Gimenez, and Sean Okoli share the team lead with five goals each on the season.
State ranks third in the ACC in goals, two shy of the Deacs in second place. Wake Forest leads the conference with 222 shots on the year, meaning Wolfpack goalkeeper Fabian Otte will have to be up for the task. Otte is coming off of his second shutout of the season, seventh of his career.
Friday's match marks the fifth annual Genna Wiley Memorial Match, a tradition which serves to raise awareness and support for breast cancer research. All fans attending the game in pink attire will receive free admission.
NC State trails in the all-time series 22-11-3, and its last win against Wake Forest came in a 2-1 victory on October 30, 2005.
