Manzano, Widman Named Academic All-District
RALEIGH, N.C. – Seniors Romulo Manzano and Christopher Widman of the NC State men’s soccer team were each voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District men's soccer team this week.
Manzano, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, was earned first-team honors after he posted a 3.92 GPA in computer science. Widman, from Greensboro, N.C., was named to the second-team with his 3.67 GPA in economics.
By virtue of being named to the All-District first team, Manzano is now a candidate for the All-America team that will be voted later this month.
Manzano has started every game but one this season as one of the Pack’s central defenders, while Widman has played every minute in the Pack’s net. Along with Manzano and the rest of the Pack defense, Widman has already set a new career-high with seven shutouts thus far this season.
The 14th-ranked Wolfpack will conclude regular season play this weekend, as NC State travels to No. 7 Virginia for a Saturday night contest.
