    LOUISVILLE, Ky. -

    No. 57 NC State (2-1) was handed its first defeat of the season at No. 13 Louisville (2-0), 7-0, on Friday, Jan. 21. Jaime Pulgar and Dave Thomson remained undefeated in doubles on the season by collecting a win at No. 2.

    Pulgar and Thomson topped Simon Childs and Sumit Gupta, 8-7, at No. 2 doubles, but the Pack couldn't grab a win at the other two spots. Dominic Hodgson and Julian Sullivan were handed their first defeat at No. 1, 8-6, in a close contest with Viktor Maksimcuk and Austen Childs, while Ivan Sanchez Gomez and Sean Weber lost to Alejandro Calligari and Robert Hall, 8-2, at No. 3.

    Louisville continued to carry the momentum in singles play, with No. 8 Austen Childs beating No. 61 Pulgar, 6-2, 6-3, and No. 98 Simon Childs bypassing Hodgson, 7-6, 6-4. Dave Thomson then fell to No. 75 Maksimcuk, 7-6, 6-4, to clinch the match for the Cardinals.

    Sullivan was defeated by Calligari, 6-3, 7-6, Rafael Paez lost to Hall, 6-1, 7-6, and Sanchez Gomez dropped a 7-5, 6-2 bout to Andrew Carter.

    NC State will resume play tomorrow at No. 46 Indiana. Action is slated to being at 2 p.m.
