    On Saturday, Sept. 17, the NC State men's tennis team continued its solid play on the second day of the Residence Inn North Wolfpack Invitational. The Pack collected wins across the board, but flat out dominated in Flight A2 singles, with four team members collecting wins and advancing to the next round.

    Seniors Will Shaw and Val Banada both won in Flight A2, with Shaw downing American's Sebastin Proisy, 6-4, 6-2, and Banada besting Eric Rose of ECU, 6-0, 6-3. Sophomore Ben Zink picked up a win of his own over North Carolina's Will Plyler, 6-4, 6-3, and freshman Chris Welte beat Austin Wilty of UNC Greensboro, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2.

    In Flight A1 singles, Wolfpack teammates were forced to face off as sophomore Nick Cavaday took on junior William Noblitt. Cavaday, currently ranked No. 65 in preseason Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, wound up as the victor, 6-0, 6-3.

    Freshman Jay Weinacker continued to wow on looking crowds as he beat Britton Steele of ECU, 6-0, 6-1, in Flight A3 singles. In the same flight, sophomore David Rozek upped Ryan Johnson of Charlotte, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.



    In doubles play, the Pack competed in five contests, with Banada and Shaw picking up two wins, as well as Cavaday and Noblitt and Weinacker and Zink. Banada and Shaw battled closely with American's Nicolas Frayssinouux and Juancarlo Vazques, finally coming out on top, 9-8. The senior duo then topped Nick Rose and Brian Walters of East Carolina, 8-4. Cavaday and Noblitt took down Aleksey Kochetov and Henrique Viana of East Carolina, 8-2, before knocking off Coastal Carolina's Andy Caress and Simon Taylor, 8-1. Elon's Alex Garrett and Kyle Smialek fell to Weinacker and Zink, 8-5, as did Jason Harris and Andrew Singer of American, 8-4. Junior Andre Iriarte and Rozek were scheduled to compete in doubles action, but withdrew due to an injury sustained by Iriarte.

    The Residence Inn North Wolfpack Invitational will come to a close tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 18. Play is slated to begin at 9 a.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on the NC State campus.
