NC State Men's Tennis Set to Host Wolfpack Invite
Jan. 9, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s tennis team is set for its final tune-up prior to the start of the 2014 dual season, as the squad will host the Wolfpack Invite from Jan. 10-12.
“This will be a good tournament this weekend with Elon and William & Mary coming to town,” said head coach Jon Choboy. “I think it will help us prepare pretty good for the upcoming season as our last opportunity to get some matches under our belt before the dual season starts.”
The tournament will feature players from State, as well as players from Elon and William & Mary. No team scoring will be used, but a points system will be used to crown an individual champion at the end of the weekend.
“The format won’t be a team scoring dual match format, but the new scoring system will be in place,” Choboy said. “The biggest advantage we’ll have is to try out that scoring system and get used to it. It’s a little different. We have been doing it in practice, but that is a little different than doing it in matches.”
The Pack will open the tournament Friday by playing eight singles matches against William & Mary at 9 a.m., inside the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
Fans are urged to park in the West Deck, which can be accessed off of Varsity Drive.
