Jan. 18, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's tennis team will compete in its first dual match of the season when it travels to University Park, Pa., to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions. The match is scheduled to begin on Saturday, Jan. 19 at noon in the Sarni Tennis Center.
The Wolfpack collected nine wins in singles play and three victories in doubles at the Three Oaks Shootout this past weekend. Sophomore Austin Powell played really well for the Pack collecting two wins in singles play, including a win over 114th-ranked Jared Hiltzik of Illinois. Powell's only lost of the weekend came against Florida's 26th-ranked Florent Diep.
Penn State will be competing for the first time since the calendar rolled over to 2013, when it takes the court against State.
NC State won the last meeting between the two teams held in Raleigh on Jan. 22, 2012, topping the Nittany Lions by a final score of 6-1. The Wolfpack won five of six matches in singles play and two of three matches in doubles.
Results and a recap will be posted to GoPack.com at the conclusion of the match.
