Men's Tennis Hosts Elon Friday

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's tennis team, ranked 34th in the national polls, will host the Elon Phoenix on Friday, Feb. 8, at 4 p.m. in the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
The Wolfpack enters the match with a record of 3-2 in head-to-head contests, while the Phoenix are 1-1. State holds the edge in the series, 5-0, with the Pack taking the last meeting, 7-0, on Feb. 19, 2010, in Raleigh.
State dropped a tough match, 4-3, in its last outing against 33rd-ranked Northwestern. The Pack collected wins at the three, five and six spots in the singles lineup after dropping the doubles point. Sophomore Beck Bond made his season debut in the singles lineup, collecting a 6-3, 6-2 win at the six spot.
Thomas Weigel, freshman from Bocholt, Germany, has been great for the Pack in dual matches, posting a 3-0 mark at the fourth spot in the lineup and 1-0 record while playing at No. 3. Fellow freshman Simon Norenius is also undefeated in dual matches, going 2-0 at the sixth spot and 1-0 at the five spot.
Elon defeated the Campbell Camels, 4-3, its last time out. The Phoenix are led by Cameron Silverman and Stefan Fortman, who are ranked as the 21st and 117th players in the country, respectively, according to ITA Tennis.
