Men's Tennis Players Earn National Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The NC State men's tennis team has representation in the national singles and doubles rankings, according to the latest ITA Men's Tennis Rankings. Austin Powell is ranked No. 125 in singles, while the doubles duo of Dave Thomson and Sean Weber is No. 41.
Powell, a sophomore from Muscles Shoals, Ala., enters the rankings for the first time during the spring season after ranking No. 125 throughout fall tournament play. He defeated South Carolina's Chris Cox, 7-6 (5), 6-0, in his last outing. Powell ranks second on the team with 11 wins, spanning the fall and spring seasons.
Thomson and Weber have formed a great combination while playing at the No. 1 spot in the doubles lineup. The pair has collected nine victories on the season, with three wins in spring season dual matches. Last time out, they defeated Chris Cox and Tsvetan Mihov of South Carolina, 8-2.
NC State will return to action on Friday, Feb. 15, when it travels to William & Mary for a 4 p.m. match.
